I wanted to give this book more stars because it has all the fundamental shelters you would possibly need to be successful in the wild, but it does not go into exactly how you make them with your hands. The illustrations are of the completed structure so it is like viewing a tied knot and figuring out how it was tied. The last chapter is hacked straight out of a USGI survival manual. $10 Book...

I completely liked this book, very interesting and informative. It talks everything about malware that is short for malicious software, It is a term that encompasses all types of malicious computer code or program whose function is to damage a system or cause malfunctions. They are vulnerable because they require applications to work. Now I know that avoiding malware is not easy but prevention is the best cure against them. My brother always had fixed my laptop, but now that I’m on college and not at home we don’t see each other much and my laptop is acting weird, it’s really slow, sometimes I can’t get a folder to open properly and I’m losing some data. Not an actual story to help kids learn - List of pointers that get religious

Ordered this book to read with my 6 year old who is struggling with expressing his anger in a healthy way. Since he is getting in trouble for hitting a lot lately, he is now saying that he's "the worst kid ever". I thought this book would help explain how being mad does not mean you are a bad person, everyone gets mad, and maybe a few tips on healthy ways to express angry in a story format. I'm glad I read the book first without him... there is a page in the middle about being angry with god and some religious points. I don't think it was necessary to be in the book, especially since it was not marked as a religious book. Another reason I did not like the book is that I thought it would be in story format. It is not in story format, it is categorized and then gives tips for each category (that seemed to be too mature for kids to understand). There is no story line at all. I don't know how a kid would stay engaged. Very disappointed and will be donating the book. On the plus side, the art work was cute and the book seemed sturdy.

This book has a good message for children regarding expressing anger appropriately; however, it is a little long and detailed for younger children. I would say it's better suited for ages 7+. The illustrations were good and the writing was well done.

A great one-stop shop for game designing

This would work great as a textbook in a game-design course. It covers a lot of territory and explains a lot of game-design elements in a clear way. I'm not interested in designing video games; I'm more interested in developing multiplayer board games and prop-based games. This book is great in that it is more about how to create game components and dynamics than coding or animation, although it touches on those elemtns, too. So it works for all sorts of games, including video games but it's not limited to them alone.

An intensive, portable workshop

Tracy Fullerton's third edition of Game Design Workshop is not light, casual reading. Other reviewers have described it as a textbook, and it does have some of the makings of an academic tome (namely some of the language and the sheer concentration of information wedged between the covers), however the title says it perfectly: this is a workshop.

I think the best way to approach this volume is to read it and tackle the examples and actively workshop an idea rather than attempting to learn all of the steps needed to take an idea all the way through to production.

I am not a game designer, nor do I have aspirations of becoming one (or any of the other roles involved in producing a game). My son is into this stuff and often bounces ideas off of me. I thought Game Design Workshop would provide the guidance and resources so I can tutor him and guide him through fleshing out his ideas. This book is thorough and interesting and very detailed and an excellent resource and guide.

Great presentation on all aspects of game design

Game Design Workshop is an amazing book. The author covers every aspect of game development in a manner that is thorough and informative. As I read this book, I felt as though my eyes were opened to some of the games I was playing at the time, I found myself comparing and contrasting approaches made by game designers in each of the game I played. Also, the author provides a great set of exercises that really help the reader apply the knowledge presented in the book. I should note that this is not a book on programming but rather it is a book about how to do the design of games which is something you will want to do before setting down to code anyway. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has a dream of making a video game.

Loads of learning for every experience level!

There aren't many tech books I'd like to curl up with for a snowy weekend, but I definitely plan to spend some weekends with this book. Yes, it's "web test automation 101" and I've been automating web tests for a couple of decades, but I want to keep my skills up to date and build better habits, and I find this book does that so well.

_Web Tester_ reminds me of the book that helped me learn Ruby, Brian Marick's _Everyday Scripting with Ruby_. I can work through the examples as I go, and that's the way I learn best. I get anxious when trying to master new coding skills, and the author's lighthearted and fun tone helps me remember it's ok to make mistakes. I can also learn from his own "war stories", which is better than living through them myself!

Everyone on a software delivery team will get value from reading this book. Automation, especially at the UI level, is a continual challenge. Even highly experienced teams like my current team can fall over the cliffs of despair trying to maintain fragile tests that give false results. If you're new to automation, this is a perfect place to start learning. If you've been doing it for years, this is a great opportunity to refresh your skills. Grab a mug of tea, a pencil and a keyboard and start enjoying!

Comprehensive, well explained, very useful for programmers and testers

This is a very useful book; it will get programmers and testers up to speed with current thinking and practices of agile testing. One important topic that is discussed is the Testing Pyramid, invented by Mike Cohn. It is a model that helps you make sense of different kinds of tests you could write: from the tests that are closer to the user, to the tests that are closer to the code. The Pyramid reminds you that unit, integration and UI tests are useful in different ways, and have different strengths and weaknesses. All of this is discussed at length in the book.

One strength of the book is that it explains everything very clearly, never skipping a passage. Beginners should find it easy to use. Another strength is that it is comprehensive: it gives an introduction to every angle of testing web applications: testing the UI with Selenium, unit testing the JavaScript, integration testing REST APIs, unit testing the model. Experienced developers could find it useful to check if there's something missing in their toolbelt. I like it in particular that Jonathan took the time to write a chapter on programming style. It sometimes happen that programmers forget that clean code leads to effective testing :)

Although this book is focused on testing for web applications, it should prove useful for people using other technologies, such as mobile development. The details are not the same, but the underlying principles about the nature of UI, integration and unit tests don't change.

This is a book about testing, not about Test-Driven Development; the latter is discussed in the final chapter. While testing is useful for both programmers and testers, TDD is mostly useful for programmers. For this reason, I suggest programmers to read more about TDD after this book. I suggest Kent Beck's "TDD By Example."

An excellent guide to automated testing!

Anyone who works with software development in some form should read this book. Not only does it explain what and how to test but why we shouldn't try to test everything with UI or unit tests.

The book starts with an introduction of the testing pyramid and it's levels: UI, integration and unit tests. The rest of part one goes on to break these levels down, explaining how to test at each level and the advantages and disadvantages of doing so. These explanations are interspersed with explanations of web technologies and the web in general which is great if you are unfamiliar with these things and are easy to skip if you are familiar with them. Part one ends with a great section on how to apply the test pyramid, the commonly seen inverse pyramid and how to deal with flakey tests.

Part two goes into more detail starting with a brief introduction to development for those readers without a background in development. This is followed by a chapter on how to organise your tests which is more important than you'd think (ever had to find the test that proves that X works when there's a large suite of tests?). The next chapter, called Effective Mocking, is my personal favourite and not only explains mocking but how it relates to coupling in your tests and how best to manage that coupling. The book finishes up with a chapter on writing tests first and the test-code-refactor cycle of TDD.

As I said at the start of the review this book is not just aimed at developers but instead carefully balances the concerns of both developers and testers. This not only broadens the books appeal but gives some insight into how "the other side" thinks about the topics covered.

Its OK

I was not thrilled with this story, Its well written in many ways but I was not happy with the female nor the male Character. No Spoilers but she is a push over that if her chosen career is supposed to be true it does not fit. He comes across as a dick and a douche. I read this all the way through and have read biker stories in the past and this one falls flat in my opinion.

A well-written, clean romance that concludes well but, is a camouflaged cliffhanger-style story.

I rated this a 4-star because I enjoyed the tone and flow of the story, liked the characters and, I very much appreciated that there were no graphic descriptions of violence or sex nor vulgar language (especially for a MC story).
The reason that I didn't rate this a 5-star is because, while this story has a conclusive ending, it's actually a continuing story (or, camouflaged cliffhanger). Which means, I may never discover how things play out on the path to the happily-ever-after because I don't chase after unfinished tales.
Because I did enjoy the story, I'd recommend it.

Really great story.

Two friends, that are also neighbors , come back from war and go to the police academy. One drops out two weeks before finals and graduation. The other graduates and joins the police task force. Two years later one is an Iron Tornadoes M C member and the other us dead.
The story has just the right amount of mystery suspense and love to keep you interested..
