Boring. Interminable. Uninteresting. Truly seemed the Neverending Story.

I was so excited to just one month ago discover that the Lord Kalvan series had been continued and I knew nothing about it. I eagerly bought Great Kings' War and was treated to a wordy and endless story that really failed to grip me. It also seemed to be veering away from Kalvan and to more of the author's own characters. I read the summaries of the next books in the series and decided to just read this one, the last one published, just to find out how everything ended for Kalvan and his folk.

Ugh, big mistake. It was good I skipped the intervening books but I should have given this one a miss too. This book was interminable. I usually finish a book every 1-3 days and this took me 3 weeks to wade through. I only kept on to find out what happened to everyone and even then by the end I cheated and started skimming out of utter boredom. This book was populated with characters I didn't care about and half the time I couldn't keep straight who they were. There was an entirely unnecessary, undeveloped and intrusive additional story line added to Home Time Line. It was there enough to be a distraction from the story but not enough to be more than an intrusion.

There was very little of Kalvan in this book and tons of new characters I'm not invested in. And the worst part is after wading through all of this, this book has no ending. It is just another entry in this now-unending and uninteresting series.

This is another one of the manuals that I recently purchased from Amazon.com. This manual is from the same publisher, and just as good. These manuals are very hard to find, after looking in many auto parts stores and not finding them. I looked here into Amazon.com and was able to find them with ease and at a great price. The information that these books bring, is what's on the test. Many people are not aware of this, DELMAR makes it easy for you to read and learn from these manuals. You can't find a better source of information than these manuals. For a DIY or a serious Tech. these are needed in your shop as reference manuals...

ASE T2 DELMAR STUDY GUIDE

1ST There is not of the info covered to pass this test. 2nd The "ase" questions in the back will ask a queston and the answer given will give a reference paragraph to find the answer, only problem being the subject material isnt covered in the paragraph. This happened to most of the questions. 3rd, there is more than 1 practice test which is great, only problem is the questions are related so closely to the previous tests that you know the answer before reading the rest of the question. I feel this would be a good book at a high school shop class to give students a very basic understanding of a diesel engine, but this study guide WILL NOT help you pass the ASE T2 test.

Cute cakes that will impress!

I am a big fan of Junko and am thrilled that she decided to get one of her books translated. I currently own the one with her Rilakkuma cake on the cover, but I had to use my phone to translate the ingredients and directions. So it's nice to have a full English book from her. The instructions are straight forward and easy to follow. You don't need to be a master baker to make any of these. The cakes are simple to make, yet the wow factor is through the roof! Beautiful and delicious! Just make sure you have a scale as I believe this is a preferred way of measuring ingredients.

The back of the book contains many wonderful designs that you put underneath your parchment paper to trace. But don't feel that you are restricted to just these designs! Once you get the hang of splitting the batter into colors, you can just print out any design you want to follow. If you want to have text on your cake, make sure you mirror the image otherwise your text will be backwards. I learned the hard way (-___-)".

I like this book but after the first cake the instructions ...

I like this book but after the first cake the instructions are a bit difficult. The designs are fun but time consuming to make. I did use these ideas to create a "jelly roll" designs of my own. Patience is a must. But beautiful gifts.

About the Author
Los Angeles native Trici Venola comes from a background of digital fine art and award-winning commercial illustration, applying classical techniques with digital tools. A premier computer artist during the changeover to digital art in the past few decades, she taught many other artists how to create art using the computer as a primary medium. Her love-affair with Turkey has been a constant source of inspiration since her initial visit in 1999. Turkey as a muse has not only resulted in the ongoing visual documentation, in hundreds of drawings, of her life experience in the country, but also in her development as a writer. Her written work debuted simultaneously in the best-selling 'Tales from the Expat Harem' and in 'Best Travel Writing of 2006'. Ms. Venola has lived in Istanbul since 2004, where among other commercial projects she has illustrated several children's books for Mira Publishing. We are happy to present the first collection of her Turkish drawings.

Trici Venola is brilliant. That really says it all, but I guess I oughtta say something about what makes me feel that way about her.

Her drawings of Istanbul make the city -- its buildings, landscapes, people, animals, and indeed the energy -- come to life in vividly and provocatively in a way that photos never could. I have never been to Istanbul but after seeing this book, I feel in a way that I know the City intimately.

This is a book that you cannot -- will not -- pick up and flip through. You may TRY to, but once you open it and begin looking at the images, they will enchant and beguile you. You will be unable to resist savoring -- for a very long time -- each image as it presents itself before you.

I have my copy on my coffee table. I love watching guests pick it up, "Oh what's this..." and, with nonchalant curiosity, open it. Then watching their pace slow down and their attention focus. Before you know it, they are curled up in a chair engrossed in the book with beautiful, rapt expressions of sheer awe on their faces.

I could go on and on and on I guess, but it's really kinda pointless. Just get the book and see for yourself.

I kept looking for great pen and paper drawings when I was in Istanbul, but was disappointed. I ordered this book when I got back, and it's fantastic. Incredibly detailed drawings with explanations from the author. Looking forward to the planned sequel!

Learning an artists view.

In "Drawing on Istanbul" it is the first time I have enjoyed learning how the artist felt as she drew those exquiste pictures! It will give me a new way of viewing art. By the way, her style of capturing several pictures at one time, including the very unique personalities of those in the picture(even the cats!)made it a book one could not possibly leave unfinished.

We visited Istanbul a few years back. This book has made us want to return,and see it from a different and a more thorough prospective. Now, thanks to Trici Venola, we can relearn Istanbul's fantastic history.

About the Author
Dr. Jeremiah Donigian received his Ed.D. from the Pennsylvania State University and has been with SUNY Brockport's Counselor Education program since 1970. His primary teaching interests lie with group counseling and marriage and family therapy. He is a clinical member and approved supervisor of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) and is a nationally certified counselor. He is the recipient of the Eminent Career Award and is a fellow of the Association for Specialists in Group Work. Donigian maintains a private practice in marriage and family, individual, and group therapy. He has conducted workshops and seminars in group and marriage and family therapy throughout the United States. He also has an interest in working as a consultant and trainer to schools and business organizations. Among his numerous publications is his most recent book, SYSTEMIC GROUP THERAPY: A TRIADIC MODEL, which is also published by Brooks/Cole.

Excellent introduction.. I would like the rest of the book!!

Excellent introduction.. I would like the rest of the book!! This introduction has some excellent arguments on irreducible complexity, explaining that the science during Darwin's day contained a lot of hypothesis and did not take into account DNA or other modern scientific developments and understanding. Those modern developments call into question suppositions in the theory. This information should be presented in every classroom, for young, inquiring minds to look at so that they have the modern scientific evidence of today rather than just a theory and hypothesis. As the summary for A states: "Without a preening gland, birds cannot function with feathers. Without a unique muscular apparatus, special breathing and hollow bones, flight would not be possible. There is no evidence in the fossil record to show developing stages from reptiles to birds. We would expect to see a number of intermediary forms, but all we do see is complete creatures." Worth reading and pondering, this book is on my Top Shelf, and I will be looking for the rest of the publication as soon as it becomes available. I HIGHLY recommend this for its down to earth, easily understood explanations and clear reasoning - it is a title worth your while to read, absorb, understand and ponder.
