About the Author
Junko Katoh (better known on the internet as JUNKO) is a graduate of Nagoya University and is now something of an internet celebrity in Japan. A graphic designer by trade, Junko's passion for food drove her to launching a food blog in 2008. The blog, which covers a wide range of topics from dessert making to table setting and wine pairing, became an overnight sensation can quickly catapulted Junko into the world of media in her country. A regular in magazines and TV, Junko is now a food specialist and a certified dietary adivser but she still maintains her blog and now facebook page regularly while writing a variety of fun and quirky cookbooks, for a global audience. Her books have been translated into Korean and Chinese, and she recently launched an iPhone recipe app called ClipDish that combines social networking and recipe collection. Deco Cakes! is Junko's first English language release.

Cute cakes that will impress!

I am a big fan of Junko and am thrilled that she decided to get one of her books translated. I currently own the one with her Rilakkuma cake on the cover, but I had to use my phone to translate the ingredients and directions. So it's nice to have a full English book from her. The instructions are straight forward and easy to follow. You don't need to be a master baker to make any of these. The cakes are simple to make, yet the wow factor is through the roof! Beautiful and delicious! Just make sure you have a scale as I believe this is a preferred way of measuring ingredients.
The back of the book contains many wonderful designs that you put underneath your parchment paper to trace. But don't feel that you are restricted to just these designs! Once you get the hang of splitting the batter into colors, you can just print out any design you want to follow. If you want to have text on your cake, make sure you mirror the image otherwise your text will be backwards. I learned the hard way (-___-)".

pretty cool book, clear explanations ... I can't believe bake roll cake can be so fun. If you don't have this book yet, make sure you put an order tomorrow.. you won't regret .. trust me

I like this book but after the first cake the instructions ...

I like this book but after the first cake the instructions are a bit difficult. The designs are fun but time consuming to make. I did use these ideas to create a "jelly roll" designs of my own. Patience is a must. But beautiful gifts.
