Different sort of book presenting the basic concepts of Access consciousness
By Iona Main Stewart
Dain Heer is one of the main figures in Access Consciousness, and this “weird” book (to use a term Dain often applies to himself and others like him) presents the basic precepts of Access.

I have previously heard Dain Heer on shows on the net, so Access and Dains’s way of being are not new to me. Even so, I did not always find this book easy to comprehend, Though I absolutely agree with everything I did “get”.

As indicated by the book’s title, Dain’s basic concept seems to be, if you dared to really be you, this would change the world. And he is definitely doing his bit.

We are told that this is not a book of answers, but of questions. We are introduced to several basic questions we can start asking the Universe:

1) How does it get any better than this? (to be asked both when something good, and something bad, happens)

2) What’s right about this I’m not getting? (I understand that by “getting” he here means “understanding”)

3) What would it take to change this?

4) What else is possible?

5) What would it take for this to turn out better than I could have imagined?

6) Who am I today and what grand and glorious adventures am I going to have?

Dain contends that when we start asking these questions, great things will start to happen.

One of the main features of Access is the clearing statement, which is formulated a bit strangely, but when you’re working with the problem or matter to be cleared, it is, again, contended, that clearing does in fact occur. My life hasn’t changed because of Access, but I have several times felt a bit “lighter” during a clearing.

The clearing statement is:

“Right and Wrong, Good and Bad, POD and POC, All Nine, Shorts, Boys and Beyond”.

Another of Dain’s contentions is that something that is true for you always makes you feel lighter, while a lie always makes you feel heavier.

So you can always check whether to believe what people say, and whether you should do this or that. I must confess I can’t always feel whether something makes me feel lighter or heavier, but apparently practice makes perfect. And the words in this book do make me feel lighter.

Dain wants to change the world, and he divides us who live in it into two categories – humans and humanoids. Humans constitute the majority – those who’re satisfied with things the way they are, while humanoids are those like Dain who want a big change in the world. Humanoids are the ones this book was written for – those who are willing to “step into being the difference that you are – the non-judgment, the caring, the joy, the peace, the connection and the awareness of a different possibility”.

We need to stop being judgmental and to claim our own potency. We need to let go of the idea that we are “wrong”. Throughout our life we have taken on ourselves beliefs that we are wrong, but these beliefs actually belong to others.

What we need to do is at times to ask the question “Who does this belong to?”. If we feel lighter, then whatever it is we’re thinking of isn’t ours and should be “returned to sender” (whoever “sender” is). The contention is that 98% of all our feelings and thoughts don’t belong to us, and should be returned to sender. “You, being you, are light. You trying to be someone else are heavy.”

This book is a different sort of book. I would conjecture that Dain has a strong Uranus in his horoscope. Even the set-up of this book is different and strange. When you think you’ve got to the end of the chapter, you haven’t – there are a couple of pages more. Dain even uses language differently – he keeps talking, not about “who you are”, but “who you be”.

I find the book refreshing, and am planning on taking at least the first Access course. I recommend that you read the book, if you think you also are a humanoid , and want to “be you, and change the world” (and you must be, if you’re reading this review).

Take the Good and Leave the Rest
By Promise
I'm tempted to title this review, "Spirituality Lite" but I want to respect the value of many of the ideas it presents. Full disclosure, I have just read the book, practiced some of its processes but have not taken any classes, or had my "bars" done.

As another reviewer thoroughly stated, many of the ideas presented here are not original. Taking responsibility for one's creation, or as Dain says it, "Your point of view creates your reality" is a reiteration of the ancient metaphysical principle, "As above; so below." I won't bother to name all of the many spiritual/psychological/consciousness methods that espouse this idea. What Dain brings to this time and culture is a very easy, attractive, version of it.
Dain is a perfect person to appeal to many people, who would not read Alice Bailey or Eckart Tolle, who missed the est training and who like the idea of things being easy. He is cute, a word he uses frequently, although ironically. He is so cute that his face graces the cover of the book. The Access maxim, All of life comes to me with ease and grace" is certainly appealing, especially to this generation who have come to expect good things without hard work. The idea of sex without the commitment or marriage is certainly appealing to many too.

I am endeavoring to keep this a review of this book and not of the whole Access Consciousness movement but its a little hard to separate the two, especially because the reader is invited to continue the process of implementing the ideas by attending classes (which are very expensive).

What I like in the book is that Dain invites the reader to test for himself what resonates as true for him (is it "light" or "heavy") and only to accept those things that are light. He also, wisely, and humbly says that it's not necessary to give up other methods or teachings that have value for him in order to use the ones in this book that are. The main reason I'm writing this review is to underline that advice. I don't want to discourage anyone who could genuinely benefit from this book but at the same time I really do want to discourage people, especially the young and naive, to jump into the "movement" and wholeheartedly accept the body of teachings that may not be in his best interest and may cost a whole lot of money.

The idea of eliminating culturally imposed limitations which block the beauty of ones true self is, again, wonderful and again, Access is not the only group that offers a method to do this. I understand that Gary Douglas, Dain's mentor, who formulated Access, was heavily influenced by several women (some his ex-wives) who had been Scientologists. This is not scary to me as I know that Scientology has some excellent clearing methods, that go back to the "point of origin" of the block. Personally I think that anyone who takes the good from Scientology and leaves the rest is doing a very good thing.

What is scary to me, though, is the report that another of Gary Douglas' sources was the spirit of Rasputin, the mad Russian monk. Again I am open to the idea of receiving wisdom from channeled sources but I warn that one must be very careful to discriminate between what is wise and what isn't. It's no secret, and it shouldn't be, that one can possess extraordinary powers and still be morally challenged. Sai Baba, as just one example of many, who was said to be able to materialize diamonds from thin air, was also accused of pedophilia.

It's true, if we believe history, that Rasputin healed the son of Czar Nicholas from hemophilia and thus gained the confidence of his wife, Alexandra, but he was wildly licentious and, although married, had numerous sexual encounters with women as well as men. I have to wonder how much of Rasputin's ideas have affected Douglas' (and therefore Dain's) ideas on sexuality. It seems that marriage doesn't seem to be on the docket for either man, and who can blame them, when obviously they can get their fill of eager available women. One can say that a committed monogamous relationship, such as marriage, is just an "interesting point of view" that one can blame on society or the church and should be Pod/Poc'd away, or one can say that these two men are suffering from arrested development. You decide.

Again, the only reason I'm taking the time to write this review is to give another point of view to people, especially the young and not-too educated ones who may be unduly influenced by the personas of these two, attractive, charismatic, and apparently monetarily successful men.
I think that Dain contradicts his own words when he says that he never gives answers, only questions. He obviously lays out "how it is" in this book. My advice is to take his and ask yourself, your True Self, to inform you on what in this book is True for you and leave the rest.

ARE YOU READY TO JUST 'BE YOU'?
By Gaylene AtkinsNZ
I found Dr. Dain Heer's book to be 'thought and action' provoking. Being You, Changing The World, came to me right at a time when I was already thinking about making some significant changes in my life and relationships. And because I'd thought that, 'my need for change' was already out there in the ethers; but thinking about making changes requires some direction and advice to help action it. But at least I was mentally ready for it. Synchronisity was working for me, and I caught the tail-end of an interview Dr Dain was giving to the New Zealand 'Goodmorning' talk show hostess, on April 19th. I immediately got on to Amazon and downloaded the book to my Kindle. Then I devoured it!

Having the courage to 'live in your truth' is not easy. Other peoples wishes and ideas often infiltrate and sway us off our own thinking and path. Being yourself takes the greatest courage of all; cos what if those around us decide they don't like us anymore? Are we willing to make that sacrifice? The first person that has to like or love you, is YOU. And however you go about finding out how to do that is up to YOU! If you're ready to read what Dr Dain Heer has to say, you'll just 'know' that its right to buy it. He says in his book 'if something is right for you' then it feels 'light'. And if something is not right then it feels 'heavy'. Try that; just relax and let yourself 'feel' which it is while you decide if 'Being You, Changing The World' is the book for you for right now too!
